Before & After Your Laser Appointment
Laser hair removal is FDA-approved, safe, and effective when performed by a trained professional. Following the right prep and aftercare steps helps make sure your skin stays happy and you get the best results possible. Here’s everything to keep in mind before and after your appointment.
Before Laser Hair Removal

Shave the treatment area 24–48 hours before your appointment
No waxing, tweezing, or epilation for at least 4 weeks prior
Avoid antibiotics for 2 weeks before and 1 week after your session

No Accutane (isotretinoin) or immunosuppressants for 6 months prior
Let us know about all medications and supplements
We cannot treat patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant
Complete all required consent and medical forms before your visit, and be open about your health history so we can keep your treatment safe and effective

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner for at least 2 weeks
Skip retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, exfoliating acids (like glycolic or salicylic acid), and other harsh skincare for 1 week before
No chemical peels, microneedling, or any resurfacing treatments for at least 4 weeks before
Skin should be free of irritation, redness, and breakouts
Arrive with clean, product-free skin (no makeup, lotion, oils, or deodorant) in the treatment area

You must be 18+, or bring a parent/guardian if under 18
Get a good night’s sleep and hydrate the night before
Avoid alcohol the night before
Arrive early (especially for your first visit) so we can prep and answer questions
After Laser Hair Removal

Redness or swelling is normal around follicles and fades within a few hours to a couple of days
Soothe skin with aloe vera, cool compresses, or gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers
Keep the area clean and friction-free

Skip hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts
Wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid rubbing or irritation
No makeup, deodorant, scented products, or tinted creams on the treated area for 24 hours
No shaving or exfoliating the area for at least 10 days

Avoid direct sun exposure on treated areas
Use SPF 50+ daily, even if you're mostly indoors

Mild itching, breakouts, or irritation? Normal—use aloe or a tiny bit of over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream if needed
Prone to cold sores or acne? Let us know—we may recommend a preventive step
Wait at least 10 days before shaving, exfoliating, or using strong skincare products to avoid irritating healing skin
