To ensure a safe and effective SkinPen microneedling treatment, please follow these guidelines to promote healing and achieve the best possible results:
Pre-Treatment Instructions

Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds. Do not use self-tanning products.
Discontinue use of retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and other exfoliants.
Avoid waxing, electrolysis, or depilatory creams on the treatment area.
Do not undergo chemical peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion.
Let us know if you have a history of cold sores; antiviral medication may be recommended.

Stop using any products that cause skin sensitivity or dryness, such as benzoyl peroxide or topical acne medications.
Avoid NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen) and blood thinners, if possible and medically appropriate, to reduce the risk of bruising.
Do not shave the treated area the day of the procedure if it causes irritation.

Arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotions, or other skincare products.
Eat a light meal and stay hydrated.
If you’re prone to anxiety or discomfort, speak to your provider about numbing options or other accommodations.
Post-Treatment Instructions

Your skin may appear red and feel like a mild sunburn.
Do not touch, pick, or scratch the treated area.
Avoid applying any makeup, SPF, or skincare products not approved by your provider.
Only use post-care products recommended by your provider (usually a gentle cleanser and a soothing, hydrating serum or gel).
Avoid sweating, strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot showers.

Continue using only approved gentle skincare products.
Avoid sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen (SPF 30+) once approved (usually after 24 hours).
Redness and mild swelling may continue for a couple of days.
Mild flaking or peeling is normal as the skin begins to regenerate.

Gradually reintroduce your regular skincare routine as advised by your provider.
Avoid retinoids, exfoliants, and active ingredients until the skin is fully healed (typically 5–7 days).
Continue using sunscreen daily to protect your skin and enhance results.
